We are all different and unique individuals and so are our relationships. Dealing with each other has its Ups and Downs and marital problems can occur no matter how much you love each other. It may be financially, emotionally, spiritually or physically – we have all had our bad moments.
How do you know if you are just having a bad day and not a bad marriage?
There are several definite signs that your marriage may possibly be at a critical cross road:
Lack of Communication – no one talks, no one listens. If communication fails, there is no room for solutions and compromise.
Loss of affection – remember when you first fell in love – the kisses, the hugs, the simple tender touches? Giving and showing affection is one of the reasons you fell in love with your partner in the first place. When this is lost, you may be heading in the wrong direction.
Constant Arguments - Couples argues, but if you argue over and over about the same issues, then there is possibly something major going on. Arguing about the same thing repeatedly is a sign that neither of you are willing to listen and compromise.
No Respect – do you compliment and respect your partner’s acts and deeds as you did in the beginning of your relationship? Respect of each other is essential for a well-balanced and healthy relationship. If there is no respect, you may need to re-examine your relation very closely.
Infidelity – if either partner doesn’t feel guilty about being romantically involved with someone else, this is another sign of a troubled marriage.
Abuse – if there is verbal, physical and/or emotional abuse in your marriage, you need to put a stop to it as quickly as possible.
If your marriage is experiencing the majority of signs mentioned above, it’s time to ask for help! Remember, in order to work at saving a marriage, it needs to be a mutual decision and will require a lot of effort from both partners. If one partner is not willing, it may be time to speak with a lawyer.
