AZ Asks: Patty Aiken about Home Instead Senior Care.

Patty is a native of Greensboro, married to Lee Aiken.  After graduating from Meredith College with a BS in Business Administration, she worked for Potpourri Press for 18 years and was their VP and General Manager when the company was sold in 1996.  She, then, went to Romac Financial Services as the VP of Finance.  When the company sold to a national call center operation, she became the Eastern Regional Director of Human Resources.  In August, 2008, her career path took a turn from being a senior level manager to being a business owner. She and her husband purchased the Home Instead Senior Care franchise (Guilford County).  She indicates that her mentors at Potpourri and Romac prepared her for this journey and finds it challenging, yet very rewarding.
Patty served on the Human Resources Board as a volunteer for LifeSpan (an organization dedicated to the training and development of adults with development disabilities).  She has earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification from the Society for Human Resources Management, is a past member of HRMAG, and a member of the Women’s Professional Forum.  She has served on their board of directors for the past five years and served as their President in 2009.  In 2010, Patty was the Chair for the Greensboro Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk and successfully raised over $100,000 for the charity.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Western Carolinas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association which serves the 55 counties in the western half of the state.  For more information contact us at:  Home Instead Senior Care, 4615 Dundas Drive Suite 101, Greensboro, NC 27407(336) 294-0081 or at www.homeinstead.com

What type of service does Homecare Instead provide? The Home Instead Senior Care family network was developed with a passionate desire to help seniors maintain their dignity and independence in their own homes as they age. We wish to be a trusted source, in helping your family member or friend continue to live independently.

Please tell us why homecare assistants may be needed for some seniors?  As we age some of the simplest activities become difficult and that is where our dedicated CAREGivers provide in home care to clients and their families. Tasks like grabbing a can of soup from the top shelf, preparing a light meal, remembering to take medications, opening the mail, reading a book, folding laundry, tying shoelaces or scrapbooking the family history are not as easy as they used to be for many seniors. We are here to help.

What are some other areas of service Homecare Instead can provide? Our services cover many areas and are customized to fit the needs of each individual client. This may include assistance with trips to the doctor, reminders to take the right medication at the right time, meal preparation, light housekeeping, errands, and shopping. We also provide Alzheimer’s care. The result is companionship that allows seniors to feel safe and independent while they age in place in the home they’ve lived in for years or wherever they call home.

At times, when a client’s aging-related medical needs extend beyond our home care capabilities, we help them with referrals to our close partners in the health care industry in our community.

Which areas of the Triad does Homecare Instead serve? Our locally owned and operated office has been serving Greensboro and High Point for over 12 years. We provide service to seniors who live in their home, in assisted living communities or even in skilled nursing facilities.  Home Instead Senior Care is currently providing thousands of hours of senior home care services.  Our CAREGivers are trained, insured and bonded. They are special people who genuinely care for their clients.

Our desire is to serve the needs of our community’s senior adults so they can age comfortably in place for as long as possible. Our office is passionate about exceeding their needs and we work diligently to earn your trust. We are community-based, friendly and highly responsive, and we are right here for you anytime of the day or night.
