“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
~ Alexander Graham Bell
Divorce happens and it happens a lot! So why does modern culture continue to see divorce as a negative life event? Even the couples going through divorce believe they are on journey filled with shame, failure and disaster. Yet when a failing relationship forces couples to go through the divorce process, many find it was the best thing that could have happened to them, as they come out on other end living a much happier life. The reality is that any big change in a person’s life is stressful, but once the change has taken place strength is accomplished.
Most people marry with the best of intentions and do a fabulous job staying committed. However, others find that life events and changing circumstances alter the goals and beliefs they once held dear as a couple. When transformation and growth happen within a relationship, it may change the dynamics of the relationship creating irreconcilable differences. At times change can help a marriage; other times it creates a giant wedge between the emotions and values of the couple.
No marriage ending in divorce should be deemed a failure; it was a journey that both parties should have gained from even when the journey takes people in opposite directions. Divorce can give the divorcee a chance for a new beginning, it can help children see their parents as no longer unhappy but in a life where they belong, and it can be an opportunity to reinvent you. Divorce is not the end and doesn’t need to seen as a “Disaster”; it can be a beginning. Always look for the positives in your life; changes and challenges are opportunities to grow. Sometime divorce is “Divine Intervention” as it can open the door for you to create the life you desire.
